The Los Angeles Rams re-signed outside linebacker Keir Thomas II to a one-year contract for the 2026 season.
Thomas originally signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Florida State in 2022. He has appeared in 17 games (one start) over parts of three NFL seasons, registering 13 tackles (three for loss) and three quarterback hits.
Thomas did not play in 2025 after sustaining a season-ending undisclosed injury during the preseason that landed him on injured reserve.
The Rams have plenty of talent at outside linebacker with Jared Verse, Byron Young, Josaiah Stewart, but Thomas nevertheless will serve as important depth if he is able to get back on the field next season.
Thomas joins Kam Curl and Tyler Higbee as players who re-signed with the Rams this offseason. The team also tendered contracts to Harrison Mevis, Justin Dedich and Xavier Smith.
In terms of outside additions, the Rams most notably traded for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie while signing Jaylen Watson and Joe Cardona in free agency.
L.A. still has roughly $20 million in salary cap space so they will likely continue adding players over the coming weeks. One potential move that Rams head coach Sean McVay would like to see happen is Jimmy Garoppolo returning as the backup quarterback.
Kam Curl excited about Rams’ secondary additions
The Rams’ biggest need this offseason was improving their secondary, and they certainly made that a priority by trading for McDuffie and signing Warren.
Curl, who re-signed with the Rams on a three-year, $36 million contract, spoke about his excitement for the team’s new additions.
“I’ll see them in the building real soon, but just seeing those moves that the Rams made, it just got me excited to go play with those guys, those big playmakers. And we’re just trying to have the No. 1 defense this season and I feel like with the guys we’ve got in the room now and on the defensive side of the ball, we’ve got a good chance to do that.”
With McDuffie and Watson on the outside, Quentin Lake in the slot, and Curl and Kam Kinchens at safety, the Rams suddenly have one of the best young secondaries in the NFL. Combine that with an elite pass rush, and defensive coordinator Chris Shula should be able to put together a quality defense to go along with L.A.’s stellar offense.
