The city of Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympic Games, which means many of the stadiums, arenas and venues will be utilized during the world’s biggest sporting event. Of course this includes SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Rams.

But some changes are being made as to which venues will host which events as organizers work to get the perfect plans in place. As such, it was recently announced that SoFi Stadium will now host the swimming events in 2028.

Following the announcement, Rams president Kevin Demoff took to social media to reveal his excitement that SoFi Stadium will be the home of swimming during the 2028 Olympic Games:

Swimming was originally going to be held at a temporary venue that would have been built at the University of Southern California’s baseball field. By moving it to SoFi Stadium, which can hold 38,000 for the event, the seating capacity more than doubles and will be the largest swimming venue in Olympic history.

The decision was one of many adjustments being made to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Track and Field will now take place in the first week of the games while the pool gets constructed following the opening ceremonies which will also take place at SoFi Stadium.

Additionally, basketball will be moved from the Crypto.com Arena, home of the Los Angeles Lakers, to the newly built Intuit Dome, home of the Los Angeles Clippers, which is set to open this August. Gymnastics will now be taking place at Crypto.com Arena instead of the Kia Forum.

Rookies and veterans to report to Rams training camp at Loyola Marymount on July 23

The Rams themselves are also moving a few things around with training camp moving to a new venue as well. This year Rams camp will take place at Loyola Marymount University, who is the team’s official higher education partner.

Camp will begin on July 23 with both rookies and veterans reporting on that day. Normally, rookies would report before veterans, but this year the Rams have made the change to have everyone in the building to start at the same time. As is always the case, fans will get the chance to watch certain practices, meet players and staff and enjoy other forms of live entertainment.
