In the eyes of many, the Los Angeles Rams are the favorite to come out of the NFC and they got their 2018 NFL season off to a great start with a dominant 33-13 victory over the Oakland Raiders. Unfortunately, the team did not leave Oakland unscathed.

Pharoh Cooper suffered severe ankle injury during the game and had to be placed on injured reserve.

Head coach Sean McVay spoke about the injury saying that Cooper will be out a number of weeks, but that he may be able to recover without surgery, according to Myles Simmons of TheRams.com:

Head coach Sean McVay said on Monday that Cooper’s injury may require surgery and would keep him out for at least a few weeks. Cooper may be a candidate to return from injured reserve later in the season once he’s recovered.

In order to replace Cooper, the Rams have signed receiver JoJo Natson, who was with the team during the preseason:

With backup kick returner Mike Thomas also suffering a groin injury during Monday’s game, Los Angeles has brought back wide receiver JoJo Natson. Natson was with the club during the offseason program and training camp, and spent the preseason as Los Angeles’ primary returner.

Natson is the most logical choice to replace Cooper considering his familiarity with the team. He was solid in the preseason, averaging 24.4 yards on kick returns and 11.1 yards on punt returns.

The Rams have a short week now in order to get ready for their home opener against the Arizona Cardinals. With their first game against a division rival, the Rams want to be at their best to continue their great start to this season.
