Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, the company of Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke, has agreed to purchase the Los Angeles Angels from Arte Moreno.

This will now be the sixth professional sports team owned by Kroenke, who also has the Rams, Denver Nuggets of the NBA, the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL, the Colorado Rapids of MLS and Arsenal of the Premier League.

Some details of the sale have not yet been revealed, by Kroenke put out a statement confirming that he will be buying the Angels, via Sam Farmer of the L.A. Times:

“The Angels are a storied franchise anchored in a great market,” Kroenke said in a statement. “We look forward to an exciting future with the Angels organization.

“The Angels organization is pleased to announce this transaction with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment,” departing Angels owner Arte Moreno said in a statement. “The Moreno Family has been honored to steward the Angels for 23 years and we believe with KSE’s experience and success they are the best next owner for the franchise. The Angels Organization looks forward to continuing its commitment to the fans, our employees, the players and our business partners.”

According to Bill Shaikin of the L.A. Times, Kroenke is buying the Angels for more than $3.9 billion, which is the most an MLB team has ever been sold for:

I'm told the Angels sold for a major league record price, more than the $3.9 billion sale price for the Padres.

This is just the latest venture for Kroenke, who is building a sports empire that stretches all across the globe.

With the Angels being just down the road from the Rams in Anaheim, it will be interesting to see how much synergy there is between the two organizations once the sale is finalized. It’s no secret that the Dodgers are Los Angeles’ team, but there are also plenty of Angels fans in Southern California and now they have an owner that seemingly will be committed to winning, which was not previously the case.

Puka Nacua hired new agency ahead of Rams contract negotiations

While Rams star Puka Nacua’s current focus is on the field, he is still making sure things will be handled off of it as well. He recently hired Win Sports Group to represent him in contract negotiations.

Win Sports Group also represents Seattle Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who became the highest-paid receiver in NFL history back in March, as well as Zay Flowers of the Baltimore Ravens, who just signed a $140 million extension.
