The big unveiling of the Inglewood stadium has the Los Angeles Rams’ fan base and ownership excited. While the Rams continue playing at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, owner Stan Kroenke is continuing the development of a stadium the Rams can call home.

Kroenke, who has been the Rams’ owner since 1995, has been there through the ups and downs. After buying a partial stake after their relocation to St. Louis, he would remain a crucial part of the team up until their recent relocation to Los Angeles.

In 2010, Kroenke bought out the remaining ownership stake that was for sale and became the majority owner and chairman of the franchise. The stadium is expected to cost roughly $2.6 billion, which could finish as the most expensive stadium in NFL history.

When asked what the expectation for the stadium was, Kroenke remained determined on a certain date, but pointed out the rigors with construction work, via TheRams.com:

“2019. We’re going to push hard for that and it’s our goal. That’s always been our goal and we haven’t backed off of that. Any construction schedule is a moving thing, so it’s interesting some of the things we’ve been able to do saving time already.”

The team is going through a change of sorts, as head coach Jeff Fisher has finally elected to start No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff this Sunday. Fisher recently admitted that he felt it in his heart that Goff should start this week.

After a 3-5 start to the season, the Rams were able to muster up a victory at MetLife Stadium against the New York Jets. Although the offense was unable to score a touchdown, the defense once again came up huge.

Kroenke was asked about the quarterback change and stated that Goff has some intangibles about him that make him special:

“What makes a special player, Aaron [Donald] does things you can’t coach. Jared has that same ability. You see him do things in practice that you can’t coach. He makes throws and so that’s why you pick him first in the draft, because you think he is special.”

According to Kroenke, the coaching staff gave him the official approval that Goff is ready for the start. The rookie will face off against a formidable Miami Dolphins defense, but Fisher does have a plan in store.

The head coach stated that the team will be reliant on the effectiveness of Todd Gurley and the running game, to ease the load off of Goff and to create holes in defense for him to exploit.

Goff’s workload will not be altered in his NFL debut, as the coaching staff believes he should be able to handle what a regular game plan would ask for.
