The Los Angeles Rams have a big offseason ahead of them if they are to prove that their stellar 2017 NFL season was no fluke. Among the notable names with uncertain futures in Los Angeles is cornerback Trumaine Johnson.

There has been speculation that Johnson’s tenure with the Rams may be coming to an end. Although he has still expressed his desire to remain in Los Angeles, he understands that the business side of the game will ultimately determine his future, according to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times

“Of course I want to be around,” Johnson said. “But at the same time it’s a business. So I don’t know what’s going on. Hopefully we get talkin’ but we’ll see.”

His comments should come as no surprise considering how adamant he has been about being a part of the Rams’ promising future. However, it remains to be seen whether or not Los Angeles is willing to sign him to a long-term deal.

That said, the veteran served as a stabilizing presence for the youthful secondary while proving to be one of the best press corners in the league. Furthermore, with cornerback Kayvon Webster still nursing an Achilles, the Rams would be taking a huge risk by letting Johnson walk without a solid contingency plan to add some depth.
