The Los Angeles Rams have made several moves to try and repair their paper-thin secondary before their Week 5 matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Luckily, dealing with injury is something the Rams have been doing since the start of the preseason mainly with cornerback E.J. Gaines. During Gaines’ absence, the Rams looked to undrafted free agent Troy Hill to hold down the fort opposite Trumaine Johnson.

With Johnson dealing with an ankle injury week-to-week, head coach Jeff Fisher confirmed Hill as this week’s starter against the Lions according to Rams:

“He understands what we’re doing and he can really run and he’s got ball skills,” Fisher said. “Even though he’s a little slight, he’s a run-support guy.”

Hill has his work cut out for him in Week 6 as they square off against a pass-heavy Detroit team. Not to mention the NFL’s current leading receiver Marvin Jones, who has already totaled 519 yards receiving so far this year.

However, Hill remained confident when asked if he is worried about the opponent’s plans to target his side more frequently than not:

“You’ve just got to expect it, especially when you ain’t the big-time corner and you ain’t got alot of experience,” Hill said. “Every play I’m out there I expect to get the ball coming to me, so I got to be on my game every single play. It just makes you alot more hungry to make the plays to  prove to yourself. That’s all I’m looking for.”

Hill recorded a career-high 11 tackles during his last start for Gaines in the victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Los Angeles has also added cornerback Dwayne Gratz to help add some depth to the team’s shallow secondary heading into Week 6.
