The 2022 season is finally coming to an end and mercifully so as the Los Angeles Rams have been limping toward the finish line for quite some time.
Injuries are the primary culprit behind the Rams’ demise, though no one will remember that when looking back at this season. Instead, the focus will be on how Los Angeles managed to set an unfortunate record for most losses for a defending Super Bowl champion.
While this year didn’t provide many cheering opportunities for fans, they can still look forward to the upcoming induction of the 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. This year, 15 modern-era players were listed as finalists with several of them making the cut in their first year of eligibility.
For the Rams, though, they’ll be rooting for a familiar face as Torry Holt was named a finalist for the fourth year in a row, via Pro Football Hall of Fame:

The other 14 finalists joining Holt are: Jared Allen, Willie Anderson, Ronde Barber, Dwight Freeney, Devin Hester, Andre Johnson, Albert Lewis, Darrelle Revis, Joe Thomas, Zach Thomas, DeMarcus Ware, Reggie Wayne, Patrick Willis, and Darren Woodson. Of the group, Freeney, Revis and Joe Thomas became finalists in their first year of eligibility.
Holt is widely regarded as one of the best wide receivers in NFL history and is most well-known for his role in the highly-charged “Greatest Show On Turf’ squads. The former wideout played 10 season with the Rams, recording 869 receptions for 12,660 yards and 74 touchdowns. During that stretch, he was named to seven Pro Bowl teams and was named a first-team All-Pro in 2003.
Holt’s 2003 season was by far his best as he grabbed a career-high 117 catches, good for 1,696 yards and 12 touchdowns.
The sixth overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft, Holt made an instant impact with the Rams as he hauled in 52 receptions for 788 yards and six touchdowns. He carved out a big role early on with the team and eventually helped them capture Super Bowl XXXIV.
Hopefully this is finally the year that Holt makes it to the Hall of Fame as he is been deserving for quite some time. An integral part of one of the most electrifying offenses in league history, Holt certainly has a place in Canton, OH.
The Class of 2023 will be unveiled at NFL Honors a week before the Super Bowl in February.
