With the Los Angeles Rams bye-week taking place this week, undoubtedly many fans have turned to the NBA for some sports entertainment. The NBA just began its third week of competition, and the battle for L.A. between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers is just beginning.

Although there is no telling how the NBA season will shakeup, it’s always a lot of fun to speculate. With Todd Gurley in the middle of his bye-week, he did some speculating of his own. The Los Angeles Rams star running back made an appearance on ESPN’s “The Jump” to discuss basketball and football.

During his brief appearance on the daily show, host Rachel Nichols asked Gurley to make his pick for the Western Conference Champions and Gurley’s answer may surprise some, via The Jump’s YouTube page:

“I’m definitely going to go with the Clippers, as of right now. It’s still early.”

While the Clippers have long been the underdog in Los Angeles, the last few years, of course, have seen them find some success. This year they will certainly have a sizable challenge from the Lakers though in the form of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Despite his prediction, Gurley also stated that he attends both Clippers and Lakers games. While the Lakers have historically been the most popular basketball team in Los Angeles, Gurley picking the Clippers should not be much of a surprise. He and Clippers center Montrezl Harrell both grew up in Tarboro, North Carolina. Gurley also shared an anecdote about Harrell dunking on him during a high school basketball game.

Gurley should have some time to attend a Clippers game as they are in the middle of five consecutive games at home. Of course, Gurley will be traveling soon with the Rams are headed to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers this upcoming Sunday in Week 10.
