Rams News: Todd Gurley Not Surprised Ravens’ Marcus Peters Made His ‘Presence Known’ Facing Former Team

The homecoming for Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters could not have gone any better after playing an integral role in the dominant win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12.

Peters wasted no time making his presence felt both on and off the field. He finished as the team’s leading tackler while also recording an interception on quarterback Jared Goff.

Although Peters had downplayed any notion of this game meaning something extra to him, it is safe to say that was hardly the case after not holding anything back against his former team. He even highlighted the night by getting into it with cornerback Jalen Ramsey after the game ended.

Ramsey opted not to reveal any of the contents between him and Peters, via Jack Harris of the L.A. Times:

“If you’ve got questions about the game, I’ll answer that,” Ramsey said. “Other than that, I ain’t going to answer no B.S.”

As a former teammate, Rams running back Todd Gurley was hardly surprised by how animated Peters was all game:

“Marcus is out there doing what he does best,” Rams running back Todd Gurley said. “He’s going to make his presence known. He’s going to make you pay for mistakes. That’s kind of what he did tonight.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Gurley’s comments. Peters solidified that notion both during and after the 45-6 victory.

Of course, any hard feelings Peters may have had towards Los Angeles is certainly understandable since they had made headlines when they acquired him from the Kansas City Chiefs and he played a key role in helping them reach the Super Bowl last year. While he may have endured his fair share of struggles during his tenure with the team, it appears that their decision to move him at the trade deadline had caught him off guard.

Peters soon realized that the moves were being made in order for the Rams to clear up more room for the arrival of Ramsey from the Jacksonville Jaguars. The fact that he made it a point to jaw at his replacement is proof that he had been looking forward to getting back at his old team.

Regardless, the defense had actually played rather well since Ramsey joined up until they were exposed by quarterback Lamar Jackson and the league’s highest-scoring offense on primetime. Meanwhile, Peters has also enjoyed quite the resurgence since joining up with the Ravens where his aggressive style of play makes him an ideal fit for their scheme.

This is just a prime example of the NFL ultimately being a business. Unfortunately, business appears to be much better for some teams than it is for others.
