Rams News: Todd Gurley Not Bothered By Lightened Workload

The Los Angeles Rams bounced back nicely in Week 12 with a clutch 26-20 victory over the red-hot New Orleans Saints. The Rams managed to grind out the win at home in the Coliseum thanks to yet another strong effort on all fronts.

However, it also marked the fourth straight game that star running back Todd Gurley recorded less than 20 carries. Although Gurley’s workload has recently taken a hit, the budding superstar seems to be more concerned with winning, according to ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez:

Gurley tallied 74 yards on 15 carries while hauling in four receptions for 54 yards. To be fair, the Rams were facing a suddenly formidable Saints defense that was without two of their top defensive backs. As a result, Los Angeles went to the air with quarterback Jared Goff, who threw for 354 yards and two touchdowns.

It seems Rams players have become accustomed to sometimes taking a backseat to the bevy of other playmakers on this roster. Much like Gurley, No. 1 wideout Sammy Watkins has largely played the role of a decoy all season long before his recent touchdown tear.

However, the Rams may want to get back to feeding Gurley as much as possible during the final stretch of the 2017 NFL season as they get ready for playoffs. Los Angeles is 4-0 this year in games where Gurley registers more than 20 carries and 100 yards.
