Rams News: Todd Gurley Admittedly Disappointed With Not Winning MVP

Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley served as the catalyst for their high-powered offense en route to an MVP-caliber 2017 NFL season. Unfortunately, that honor instead went to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Although he till managed to win Offensive Player of the Year, it was always safe to assume Gurley was upset with falling just short of the prestigious award. He confirmed that notion during an appearance with the NBA on TNT:

“Tell me about it, man. Gave ‘em my award,” Gurley said.

“I try not to think about it. It bothers me now that I’m thinking about it,” Gurley said. “I would have loved to have that award for sure. I would’ve loved to have that award for the team and me.”

Gurley emerged as a heavy favorite to take home MVP after his spectacular stretch to close out the season. He finished the season as the NFL’s best weapon with a league-leading 2,093 yards from scrimmage and 19 total touchdowns.

Regardless, Gurley managed to prove all the doubters wrong following a disastrous sophomore campaign. It goes without saying that both Gurley and the Rams have set the bar high moving forward. Perhaps his MVP snub and a brief trip to the playoffs will serve as motivation for Gurley in the 2018 NFL season.
