Rams News: Owner Stan Kroenke, Others Break Ground On New Inglewood Stadium

On Thursday the Los Angeles Rams and owner Stan Kroenke broke ground on their new stadium in Inglewood, which is temporarily named City of Champions Stadium.

The location of the stadium is where the old Hollywood Park Racetrack used to be, and the plans to build the stadium came together when Kroenke and the Rams committed to coming to Los Angeles last January.

Along with Kroenke, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Inglewood mayor James Butts Jr., Rams COO Kevin Demoff and Rams punter Johnny Hekker were among the people that were attendance for the ceremony.

While the stadium is being built the Rams are currently playing at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, as the stadium is set to open in 2019.

Kroenke owns the land that the stadium is being built on, but it may not exclusively ne the home to the Rams, as if the San Diego Chargers decided to move to Los Angeles they would also play there.
