The Los Angeles Rams announced that in alignment with a revised order issued by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health on outdoor mega-events (10,000 or more attendees), fans will be required to wear masks in seats and in all locations inside SoFi Stadium regardless of vaccination status beginning with Saturday’s preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The only exception, however, is when fans are actively eating or drinking.

This decision by the local government was in response to growing coronavirus (COVID-19) cases across the county brought on by the delta variant. Before this new order by the government, masks were not required at all for vaccinated individuals at SoFi Stadium.

As of now, the plan is still for the Rams to have full capacity at SoFi Stadium this season, although that could also change if the pandemic continues to trend in the wrong direction.

The Rams opened their new, beautiful home last season without fans in attendance, so the last thing they want is to do so again in 2021 when the team has a strong roster and Super Bowl aspirations. Super Bowl LVI is set to take place at SoFi Stadium in February.

The Rams announced they will continue to follow public health guidelines to keep attendees safe. They also reminded fans to stay home if they feel sick or have close contact with someone who has COVID-19.

SoFi Stadium hosted its first postseason game this past Saturday when the Rams took on the other team that plays there, the L.A. Chargers.

After the Rams host the Raiders this weekend, they will then hit the road for their final preseason game against the Denver Broncos before returning home to take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football in Week 1.
