The Los Angeles Rams announced that head coach Sean McVay and his wife Veronika welcomed their first child, a son named Jordan John McVay, into the world on Tuesday.

This was a long time coming as McVay announced over the summer that he and Veronika were expecting a son sometime during the 2023 season.

Over the last few weeks McVay had alerted the media that the baby was due soon and that he would be missing a game if his wife went into labor on a Sunday, although he joked that his son knew better than to come on a game day.

It turns out he was right as Jordan was born on Tuesday, Oct. 24 and the Rams had a hilarious announcement, revealing it as if it’s a roster transaction:

To no surprise, McVay revealed that the middle name John is after his grandfather, who passed away around this time last year:

In typical Sean McVay fashion, he was already back on the practice field on Wednesday preparing for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys, via Gary Klein of the L.A. Times:

Being as great of a coach and as dedicated as he is, McVay has always struggled to find a work-life balance since he took over in 2017. The birth of his first child will only make that more challenging, although it seems that in recent years McVay has been able to relax a little and not let football consume him as much as it did in his first couple years at the helm.

Hopefully now that the child is born McVay can continue to find that balance to help out his wife, and hopefully Jordan can bring some good luck to the Rams in Week 8 and beyond as they look to get back on track after their 3-4 start to the season.
