Many questioned the Los Angeles Rams hiring of Sean McVay as the youngest head coach in NFL history. The deal happened so fast, fans were still wondering what exactly it was about McVay that made him so special.

Following his signing, McVay got right to work as the Rams orchestrated an impressive offseason. However, he did manage to make time for two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning prior to the 2017-18 NFL season, according to Peter King on the MMQB Podcast:

Manning said he spent “several days” with Rams coach Sean McVay “talking football, talking philosophy” in the spring. But he said he spent several days with a few teams in the past year or so, even sitting out of camera view monitoring one team’s draft weekend last April, just to learn the business of it.

As one of the brightest young minds in the league, it certainly makes sense that McVay would pick the brain of perhaps the greatest football mind in NFL history. Manning has been seen making his rounds at several team practices throughout the league since his retirement following the 2015 NFL season.

There has been plenty of speculation as to his next career step aside from starring in a wide variety of television commercials. That said, a front office role of some sorts in the near future does not seem too far-fetched.
