The Los Angeles Rams have turned heads throughout the league so far in the 2017 NFL season after their latest 33-0 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. They now enter a well-deserved bye with a firm hold atop the NFC West.
They break also gives time for center John Sullivan to heal up after sustaining a knee injury against the Cardinals. Although the injury looked a bit severe at the time, head coach Sean McVay was optimistic that Sullivan will be ready to go in Week 9 during the Rams press conference:
“I haven’t had a chance to sit down with Reggie (Scott), but all things, I think he’s going to be okay,” McVay said. “I think the early results – I haven’t talked to him since we got the MRI back – but I think he’s going to be okay. I’ll talk with Reggie after this, but nothing where – when you look at that replay it certainly didn’t look good, but he’s like Gumby, so I think he’s going to be okay.”
It is a relief to hear that the Rams veteran acquisition was able to avoid any kind of major injury on that play. Sullivan has been an integral part of their resurgence on offense in the 2017 NFL season.
McVay has become quite familiar with Sullivan during the latter’s lone season with the Washington Redskins last year. Needless to say, he and left tackle Andrew Whitworth brought some much-need stability to a Rams offensive line that had suffered in mediocrity for quite some time prior to their arrival.
