The Los Angeles Rams looked like a legitimate playoff contender heading into a marquee Week 14 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. In what turned out to be the shootout most predicted, the Rams ended up falling short 43-35.

Todd Gurley has bounced back from a disappointing 2016 NFL season and has become a legitimate MVP candidate during the 2017 NFL season. Sean McVay has found ways to utilize Gurley on the ground and through the air and the running back has flourished.

However, according to Gary Klein of Los Angeles Times, McVay admitted he needed to get Gurley more touches:

However you want to cut it, I’ve got to get him going, give him more opportunities with the way he was running it and have a better feel for the flow of the game,” McVay said. “That was something that I didn’t think I did very well yesterday.”

The Georgia product rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries while adding another 39 yards on three receptions. Gurley has been matchup proof for the year and such was the case against the Eagles.

McVay stated after the game that he needed to learn from his mistakes and it seems as though he will make a concerted effort to get his star running back more opportunities to create plays. Los Angeles’ Week 15 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks could decide the NFC West title, so Gurley and the rest of the team will need to step up if they want to pull out a difficult victory on the road.
