The Los Angeles Rams earned a hard-fought victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday and now set their sights on the Baltimore Ravens ahead of a highly anticipated Monday Night Football showdown.
Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed that Brandin Cooks will suit up after missing the past two games due to a concussion. Robert Woods’ status for Week 12 is up in the air as he is still tending to a personal matter.
While the wide receiver position is something to keep an eye on, another storyline worth following is Eric Weddle playing in his first game against the Ravens since departing the organization last offseason.
Prior to joining the Rams, Weddle had spent the previous three seasons with Baltimore, becoming a key leader on the field while earning Pro Bowl nods each year.
He was a cap casualty despite still playing at a high level, which paved the way for him returning to Southern California.
Weddle nevertheless cherished his time with the Ravens and doesn’t feel comfortable sharing inside information about them to the Rams ahead of the Week 12 matchup, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
“I said it whenever I did that last interview, I have a lot of respect for that place,” Weddle said. “Not only how it helped my career and rejuvenated my career, and how they treated myself and my family, but it’s a very tight-knit group. What kind of man would I be if I just turned my back on all of them?”
While the Rams would certainly benefit from Weddle revealing secrets about the Ravens’ playbook, McVay respects his decision to stay loyal to his former team:
“What you respect about Eric is, he’s one of those guys that, you pick his brain because you just want to talk some football,” McVay said. “But in terms of the intricacies, I think he’s got a lot of loyalty to those guys, even if he’s not there anymore. Those are things that I think he would probably say, ‘Hey, I like talking ball with you,’ but I don’t want to do something that takes away from his ability to try to unfairly give information with the Ravens.’ I know that’s something that he’s communicated. I haven’t talked to him about it.”
In addition to Weddle suiting up against the Ravens, the Rams will get their first look at Marcus Peters since trading him to Baltimore last month.
The 26-year-old has thrived with a change of scenery, while L.A.’s new-look secondary continues to make strides following their blockbuster acquisition of Jalen Ramsey.
