The Los Angeles Rams have enjoyed a bit of injury-related luck the past few years, but the 2022 season is turning out to be the complete opposite.
Entering Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers, the Rams were down several starters on both sides of the football. It was clear Los Angeles was missing certain players as they were blown out 24-9, continuing their regular season woes against a San Francisco team that finds itself atop the NFC West standings.
As has been the case every week, the Rams saw multiple players leave the game. Coleman Shelton and Jordan Fuller each were ruled out with injuries and head coach Sean McVay provided updates following the loss.
“Yeah, so Coleman got a high ankle sprain,” McVay announced. “It’ll probably be four to six weeks. (DB) Jordan Fuller strained his hamstring. He’ll probably be out for two to four weeks.”
The interior of the offensive line has been hit hard over the past month, with Shelton being the latest one set to miss multiple weeks. Shelton moved over to center after Brian Allen suffered a knee injury, while guards Tremayne Anchrum Jr. and David Edwards are dealing with their own ailments. Jeremiah Kolone took over for Shelton once he was ruled out and is expected to play center until Allen returns.
Meanwhile, the loss of Fuller weakens what has already been a struggling secondary. Fuller was able to force a fumble against San Francisco before leaving the game, opening up more snaps for fellow strong safety Taylor Rapp.
Rapp is more than capable of filling in Fuller, though the Rams’ depth at safety will be tested until the latter is able to come back.
