The Los Angeles Rams were rolling heading into their Week 3 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, but lost 35-32 after a controversial ending.
The game had the makings of a blowout in the first half as the Rams defense was out of sorts and allowed the Bills several easy touchdown drives that put them in an early 28-3 hole. However, the second half was a different story as the offense found their rhythm while the defense was able to limit Josh Allen and Buffalo’s passing game to climb all the way back.
Los Angeles took the lead in the fourth quarter off a Darrell Henderson run at the goal-line, but a questionable pass interference call on the other end allowed Buffalo to convert on what would be a game-winning touchdown. It was a frustrating loss but the Rams did have opportunities to put the game away late.
According to Greg Beacham of Associated Press, Rams head coach Sean McVay admitted it was disappointing to lose but was still happy with how they rallied back:
Rams coach Sean McVay: "Disappointing end to a very resilient effort by our guys. I love this football team. We’re not going to make any excuses. We’re going to use this as an opportunity to move forward."

McVay added that he is looking forward to seeing how his team progresses over the course of the 2020 season:
Rams coach Sean McVay was clearly agitated in his postgame interview, but also upbeat: "I was really proud of this group. I think I learned a lot about this team, things I already knew and thought. I’m excited for the future with these guys."

There were several instances in the fourth quarter where it looked like the Rams would complete their comeback as the defense was close to sacking Allen on a few occasions. However, the quarterback was able to shrug off the contact and find pass catchers down the field to sustain their drive.
Henderson was a bright spot on the ground for the Rams, though, as his running helped open up the rest of the field for Jared Goff and the offense. The second-year running back finished with 120 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown.
Cooper Kupp also had his best game of the year so far as he recorded nine receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown of his own. Meanwhile, Goff continued his steady play as he racked up 321 passing yards and two passing touchdowns.
Like McVay said, it was a good learning opportunity for the Rams and they should be able to bounce back when they head home to take on the winless New York Giants in Week 4.
