When the Los Angeles Rams won Super Bowl LVI, head coach Sean McVay made history by becoming the youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl.
At 36 years old, McVay has accomplished more than most head coaches and seems like he is square in his prime to lead the Rams to more deep postseason runs. However, there were murmurs prior to their championship win that McVay might be retiring in order to take a break from the grind and focus on his personal goals.
With his wealth of knowledge and affable personality, McVay could easily transition to a television career where he would work fewer days and hours. Despite that though, he confirmed once and for all that he is coming back for the Rams’ title defense, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN:
Coach Sean McVay is not pursuing any television opportunities and is committed to helping the Los Angeles Rams defend their Super Bowl title, he told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Friday.
The Rams then confirmed McVay’s return with the famous GIF from ‘Wolf of Wallstreet:’

It never truly seemed like McVay was intent on leaving and he all but confirmed it during their championship parade when he egged on Aaron Donald to ‘run it back.’ Both McVay and Donald privately sounded like they were mulling retirement, but the two appear set to return and help lead Los Angeles back to the top of the mountain.
The only real question now is whether or not McVay will agree to an extension with Los Angeles. McVay is likely going to command top dollar after bringing a Super Bowl to the city, but the franchise should be willing to pay whatever it takes to keep him around long term.
McVay will certainly have his choice of networks to work for once he decides he is done coaching, but for the time being, he and the Rams have favorable odds to repeat as champions.
