The Los Angeles Rams suffered their fair share of losses in free agency that were followed up by some cap-saving decisions.

As a result, the Rams are left with some rather notable voids to fill on the roster through the 2020 NFL Draft. They have since done what they can to shore up some extra draft capital in order to help them alleviate the losses they suffered this offseason.

Los Angeles is without a first-round pick once again after dealing it to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the trade for cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Fortunately, that does not seem to be bothering head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead very much.

According to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times, McVay is confident that he and Snead will be able to work their magic on Day 2 of the draft, and also didn’t rule out the possibility of trading into the first round:

“We’ve got a nice opportunity to be patient on Thursday, and then Friday will be an exciting chance for us to get four picks off the board,” McVay said. “But you know Les Snead. He’s a wheeler and dealer, you never know.”

The Rams will have seven picks to work with in this year’s draft. Although quarterback Jared Goff maintains his status as the team’s last first-round pick, they can take solace in the fact that they will be extra busy the following day.

Los Angeles has four picks in the second and third rounds combined, giving them the perfect opportunity to make a splash on the second day. McVay has good reason to be confident that they will be able to strike gold again given how well he and Snead have done in these rounds in recent years by netting bonafide starters such as wide receiver Cooper Kupp and safeties John Johnson III and Taylor Rapp.

Snead must find a way to mimic the success he has enjoyed if the Rams are going to have any chance of bouncing back in the 2020 NFL season. Of course, the restrictions placed by the league in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have hardly been ideal. Regardless, he and McVay are adamant that they will not deter the pair from taking an aggressive approach if the opportunity comes.

Barring any substantial trades on Day 2, Los Angeles will have three picks left on the final day of the draft. They have proven to be nearly as fortunate in these rounds as well after bringing in players like tight end Tyler Higbee, defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day and center Brian Allen.
