The Los Angeles Rams have already exceeded the expectations of even the most optimistic fans through just seven games of the 2017 NFL season. Not only are they the highest-scoring team in the league, but they have quickly garnered respect as a legitimate up-and-comer in the league.
Their turnaround undoubtedly begins with rookie head coach Sean McVay, who has seemingly made an early case for Coach of the Year. However, despite their success thus far, McVay said during the Rams press conference that they are not by any means where they want to be:
“We’ve experienced a lot of things in these first seven games, but by no means have we arrived,” McVay said. “It’s a one-game-at-a-time mindset — we haven’t arrived by any stretch, but 5-2 is a good feeling. But that’s all it is right now and there are nine games left for sure, and we’re focused on the next one when we get back for preparation after the bye.”
McVay’s confidence is indicative of the expectations he has not only for this team but of himself. The Rams have always been a talented squad, however, they have struggled mightily to get the right pieces to function together.
Los Angeles now enters their bye week with a firm grasp on first place in the NFC West. The scary part is, they still have much to improve on moving forward in the 2017 NFL season.
