Rams News: Sean Mcvay Expresses Excitement Over Brandin Cooks

The Los Angeles Rams completely revamped their roster in the offseason by acquiring several high-profile players like Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib and Ndamukong Suh. However, the Rams also decided to fill the void at wide receiver by agreeing on a deal to bring in Brandin Cooks from the New England Patriots.

Cooks, who has established himself as one of the league’s best pass catchers, will look to stretch opposing defenses, clearing room in the middle for people like Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. The former Patriot has proven to be a versatile threat coming out of the slot or lining up outside and should find several opportunities to succeed in Sean McVay’s offensive scheme.

According to Myles Simmons of Rams, McVay expressed how excited he was to add Cooks to the offense:

McVay was asked if he could envision the front office picking a player of Cooks’ caliber with the 2018 first-round pick they shipped off to New England and his answer seems to indicate he is more than okay with the terms of the deal. The receiver is a legitimate downfield threat who should thrive in McVay’s high-octane offense that also features Jared Goff and Todd Gurley.

With the addition of Cooks, the Rams boast one of the most talented rosters on both ends of the field. Although the 2018 NFL season is still months away, it is easy to peg Los Angeles as an early Super Bowl favorite.
