Rams News: Sean McVay Expects Cooper Kupp To Make Full Recovery

Although Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp will likely spend the offseason recovering from a torn ACL, head coach Sean McVay is optimistic about his status for the 2019 NFL season.

Kupp had been in the midst of yet another promising campaign despite dealing with a knee injury early on. He had registered 40 receptions, 566 yards, and six touchdowns in eight games before the season-ending ACL injury.

Given his track record with injuries, the Rams may have to take a cautious approach with his return this offseason. It appears that is exactly what McVay intends to do.

According to Rams Insider Myles Simmons, McVay indicated that his primary concern is making sure Kupp is 100 percent by the time Week 1 rolls around:

HC Sean McVay says WR Cooper Kupp is “doing good.” Says Rams are going to be smart with him, goal is to have him be at a high level of performance for Week 1.

McVay’s plans for Kupp is certainly understandable. The 25-year-old has shown plenty of promise thus far in his young career and Los Angeles is looking to make sure his development is not hindered by injuries.

Kupp has developed quite the rapport with quarterback Jared Goff since being taken in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. As a result, he has etched out an integral role in this high-powered Rams offense over the last two seasons and his absence was sorely missed during their Super Bowl run.

Fortunately, it is clear that McVay and the rest of the coaching staff are expecting him to be fully healthy by the time the 2019 campaign rolls around. The Rams will be able to continue with business as usual as far as their offense is concerned throughout the offseason.
