Although the Los Angeles Rams would have preferred to go into the bye on a high note, the extra week of rest could not have come at a more ideal time.

It is no secret that the Rams boast one of the best defenses in the NFL through the first half of the 2020 season. This already elite group is now set to receive a major boost with the return of safety Jordan Fuller in Week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks.

L.A. waived linebacker Natrez Patrick in order to make room for Fuller. They also released center Cohl Cabral from the practice squad amid the looming return of defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson.

Head coach Sean McVay expects Robinson to make his debut against the Seahawks, via Stu Jackson of the team’s official website:

“That’s the anticipation, and he sure looks good,” McVay said. “I’m hoping that as good as he looks, he plays that well also. It will be good to get him going.”

While this group had already put on a dominant showing through the first half of the 2020 campaign, there is good reason to be optimistic that they can take that next step.

Despite giving up the fourth-fewest yards per game (396.4), they have been porous against the run at times this season by allowing 109.0 rushing yards per game. The presence of a proven run-stuffer like Robinson should help pay huge dividends up front alongside Aaron Donald.

Robinson started the year on the non-football injury list after signing a two-year deal with the Rams in free agency. He will now have a chance to make his presence felt immediately for this pivotal NFC West matchup.

Meanwhile, Fuller has been sidelined since sustaining a shoulder injury versus the Washington Football Team in Week 5. His return gives the secondary one of its most dynamic players, it also restores the quality depth they have over the top.

With the division likely to remain up for grabs the rest of the season, a win versus the Seahawks would make quite a statement.
