The Los Angeles Rams improved to 4-2 with their win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday despite some early defensive struggles.

The Ravens, without All-Pro quarterback Lamar Jackson, had a chance to take the lead over the Rams with just over three minutes remaining in the first half.

However, L.A. was able to stop four straight runs to prevent Baltimore from scoring, highlighted by Jared Verse’s tackle of Derrick Henry on fourth down.

Rams head coach Sean McVay compared Verse to Marvel superhero the Incredible Hulk for the strength he showed in bringing down one of the toughest running backs.

“Once we did a great job, after Henry had a good run and a good surge, then two sneak attempts, and then for them to basically try to run kind of a lead play and for what Jared Verse did in that play was unbelievable,” McVay said on Monday.

“That was Hulk-type stuff. He really checked into grown-man mode right there and did an amazing job, and I thought that catapulted just the momentum going into the half. It was a really strange game the way that it all unfolded, but our team found a way, and I think being able to win different types of games can be a strength as we continue to move forward… He’s just a man doing grown man things right there.

“It was just such a big-time stop by our group as a whole, and the collective responsibility on the second and third-down stops to get them to a fourth down, and really, it was great example all around. You can certainly feel that Jared Verse blew that play up at the point of attack.”

Verse finished the game with a forced fumble and six tackles, including his third sack of the season. He has been a force this year, and together with Kobie Turner and Byron Young, have given the Rams one of the best pass rushes in all of football.

Nate Landman credits teammates after setting Rams franchise record

Nate Landman recorded a franchise-record 17 total tackles in the Rams’ 17-3 win over the Ravens. He passed Mark Barron (2015), Alec Ogletree (2015), James Laurinaitis (2009) and Keith Lyle (1995), who all had 16 total tackles in a single game.

Landman discussed the accomplishment after the game and gave credit to his teammates for putting him in a good position to make those tackles.

Landman has tallied 58 total tackles, four passes defended and a forced fumble in six games so far.
