The Los Angeles Rams made a splash after announcing their trade for Kansas City Chiefs Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters. What makes the trade even more compelling is how little the Rams had to give up in order to make the deal.

The trade cannot be completed until the start of the new NFL season in March. However, head coach Sean McVay provided some quick thoughts on his new addition, according to Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star:

“Right now, just because of where we’re at in the league year, you can’t make it official, so you have to be careful with some of the tampering,” McVay said, when asked directly about Peters. “But in a quick nugget, he’s a great player.”

“Great” is a word that often gets thrown around quite a bit in professional sports. Yet, there are very few athletes who genuinely qualify as a great player.

Needless to say, Peters certainly fits that mold. Since being taken with the 18th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, no player has registered more interceptions than he has (19). Furthermore, his ability to create turnovers is second to none. This may be he has already been named an All_pro twice in his three-year career thus far.
