The Los Angeles Rams are mired in the preparation for their NFC Wild Card matchup with the Atlanta Falcons. However, that is not to say some players have not occasionally thought about their future with the team beyond the 2017 NFL season.

Among them has been wide receiver Sammy Watkins. According to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times, Watkins gave a strong indication that he may be staying in Los Angeles:

“I love it here,” Watkins said. “I don’t want to change teams. That’s not what a guy of my stature wants to do, bounce around. I’ve got a family so I’m looking forward to staying. But you know it’s a business.”

Watkins even added that he would be rather upset if he is unable to strike a new deal with the Rams.

“If I go, I’ll be hurt,” he said. “I just want to stay here and ball, that’s what any player wants to do. You don’t want to hop from team to team, quarterback to quarterback.”

Watkins’ comments may come as a bit of a surprise considering the down year he has experienced in his debut season with the Rams. The fourth-year wideout recorded just 39 receptions for 593 yards and eight touchdowns this season. However, it seems he is ready to settle down with an up-and-coming contender like Los Angeles.

Despite the downtick in numbers, Watkins is a respected deep threat throughout the league and just having him out there opens the field up tremendously. That said, the Rams will have some big decisions to make in terms of long-term deals for some their existing personnel.
