Rams News: Sammy Watkins Is Most Efficient Wide Receiver In The NFL

The Los Angeles Rams offense has made perhaps the biggest jump from their disastrous 2016 NFL season. Thanks to a combination of a new coaching staff and an upgraded supporting cast, quarterback Jared Goff has thrived so far in the 2017 NFL season.

Among the new weapons Goff has to throw to, the most prolific has been wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Despite a slow start to the year, Watkins has become the most efficient wideout in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus:

Watkins has been nearly perfect during the 2017 NFL season, catching 13 of his 14 targets for 194 yards and two touchdowns. While the bulk of his numbers were produced in his spectacular Week 3 performance, it looks like his rapport with Goff is finally starting to develop.

He got off to a late start in the 2017 NFL season after needing time to adjust to the trade and learn the playbook. However, now that Watkins has settled into the new scheme, he will likely continue to see an uptick in targets.

Los Angeles made the blockbuster trade late in the offseason with the hope that they were getting a true No. 1 receiver in return. Watkins has been just that in terms of receiving and blocking on run plays.
