Rams News: Safety Eric Weddle Believes Team Is Gelling At The Right time

The Los Angeles Rams have managed to spark quite a resurgence in recent weeks by securing their second straight win in dominant fashion over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football in Week 14.

The Rams know full well they are in a must-win situation in the final stretch of the 2019 NFL season in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. Although it was undoubtedly encouraging to see the offense continue to improve on their side of the ball, the defense has seemingly managed to get back to the level it was playing at earlier in the year.

This group has bounced back nicely from the debacle against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12 by allowing just one touchdown over the past two games and limiting the Seahawks to a mere two field goals in the 28-12 victory. It is safe to say that safety Eric Weddle is glad to see this team finally kick things up a notch on both ends, feeling the timing of their rapid improvement on both ends could not have come at a better time.

Weddle feels this is the perfect time for the Rams to start clicking on all cylinders, via Gary Klein of the L.A. Times:

“It’s taken us a little while to get there, but I believe we’re hitting our stride at the right time,” safety Eric Weddle said.

Weddle added that the team will need to keep their must-win mentality going forward if they hope to make the playoffs:

“It’s more must-wins the rest of the way,” Weddle said. “We kept our season alive, and we’ve got to keep that energy.”

Weddle’s comments certainly carry some weight considering he has been part of his fair share of teams that have flamed out at the wrong time throughout his 13-year career. Fortunately, it seems he is seeing all the positive signs that Los Angeles is finally finding its rhythm with the playoffs at stake.

There is good reason for Weddle to be optimistic considering how well the Rams have played on both sides of the ball over the last two games. They will need to keep that momentum going if they hope to have a chance to defend their NFC crown.

Unfortunately, things will not be getting any easier with their upcoming two-game road trip starting with a playoff rematch against a desperate Dallas Cowboys team. It will then be followed up by another difficult matchup against the San Francisco 49ers before the Rams finally return home for the season finale.
