Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week after his big game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football in Week 11.
The Rams were able to hang on for a 27-24 win on the road over a formidable opponent in the Buccaneers, and that was thanks in large part to the performance of Woods and the offense.
Woods had season-highs across the board on the night, hauling in 12 receptions on 15 targets for 130 yards and a touchdown. He had a big 35-yard catch at the end of the first half that allowed the Rams to get into field goal range, which ended up being the difference in the three-point victory.
It wasn’t just Woods that had it going for the Rams offense though as Cooper Kupp also had a big night, finishing with 11 receptions for 145 yards. Woods and Kupp became the first Rams duo to each record 10 or more catches in the same game in franchise history.
The Rams rewarded both Woods and Kupp with contract extensions before the start of the season, and so far, that has looked like a good decision. Woods is having another very quality season for L.A. as in 10 games, he has 54 receptions for 599 yards and five touchdowns while also adding 107 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground.
The L.A. native has also been doing some outstanding work in the local community, making him the perfect player to lock up to a long-term deal.
Through their first 10 games, the Rams now sit in first place in the NFC West at 7-3. Their offense hasn’t really even reached their full potential yet, so look for Woods and Kupp to continue to build even more chemistry with Jared Goff in the latter half of the season, which could bode well for L.A. when the postseason rolls around.
This marks the second week in a row that a Rams player has taken home NFC Player of the Week honors, with Leonard Floyd doing so on the defensive side of the ball in Week 10.
