The Los Angeles Rams made yet another statement with a 51-17 route of the New York Giants. Once again, the Rams were firing on all cylinders to earn a lone spot atop the NFC West.
The offense took full advantage of the Giants depleted defense early on. However, things really got going after wide receiver Robert Woods took a routine screen pass for a 52-yard touchdown. According to ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez, Woods is happy with his first career touchdown as a Ram:
“That was a good first one,” said Woods. “Saw a lot of grass, saw blockers, and then saw the end zone and just tried to get there. It’s my first one, so I made sure I ran through the end zone, right through the line.”
Woods would later tack on to his big day with another four-yard touchdown to give him his first multi-TD performance of his career. Although he is as sure-handed as it gets, the former Trojan is not known for his touchdown prowess.
However, Woods was not the only one to get in on the action as quarterback Jared Goff did a tremendous job of spreading the love amongst all his pass-catchers. It was also encouraging to see him finally connect with No. 1 wideout Sammy Watkins on a 67-yard bomb to put the game out of reach.
