Rams News: Offensive Line Confident Heading Into 2018 Season

The Los Angeles Rams are coming off a highly encouraging 2017 NFL season that saw them capture their first playoff appearance and NFC West division title in well over a decade. This has led to much of the same group of offensive linemen returning for this upcoming season.

The Rams have worked through bringing back their entire starting unit with center John Sullivan being the only player among that group that hit the free-agent market over the offseason. With all that in mind, veteran offensive guard Jamon Brown has voiced that there is a strong level of confidence and comfort with that unit heading into the second year under head coach Sean McVay’s offensive scheme, according to Myles Simmons of TheRams.com:

“I think that plays a lot into it, being confident and comfortable,” Brown said. “Everybody is coming back, we are running some of the same things that we did last year — don’t have to worry about the new systems or the new things that come with a new system. We kind of have that level of comfort to where we’ve been here before, we know some of the this. We hear something and it’s like, ‘Oh, we remember this from last year.’ You’re just picking back up on it.”

The Rams saw their offensive line be one of the primary reasons for their success offensively behind finally having stability up front with offseason addition left tackle Andrew Whitworth quickly proving to be the biggest pickup for the team last year. Meanwhile, Sullivan looked to have gotten past the injury woes that allowed him to be one of the better centers in the league.

This has made the chance to get another year under their belts in the offense where the offseason could be used as a way of getting more comfortable could bode well for them. It should provide them with another level of confidence in their play and execution of the game plan.

With this entire training camp to get better acclimated to the offense, it could lead to the Rams offensive line once again being a strong trait of the team in 2018.
