The past week and a half has been an emotional roller coaster for several Los Angeles Rams players, including Odell Beckham Jr., who scored the first touchdown in Super Bowl LVI before suffering a torn ACL later in the game.

Beckham reflected on the injury and called it a “heartbreaker” as he was excited to play in his first Super Bowl and help the Rams accomplish their ultimate goal.

Beckham has since provided an update on Instagram that he underwent successful surgery on Tuesday while also announcing the birth of his first child, Zydn:

Beckham is the second Rams player to welcome a child this offseason, joining fellow wide receiver Van Jefferson, whose wife, Samaria, went into labor during the second half of Super Bowl LVI.

Jefferson played out the rest of the game but didn’t get a chance to do much celebrating as he quickly left SoFi Stadium to head to the hospital to be with his family.

Jefferson named his son Champ as a tribute to Samaria being a “warrior” during Super Bowl week. The name is also fitting considering the Rams rallied late to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals and capture their second title in franchise history.

As for when Beckham may return to the field, most recoveries from a torn ACL typically take 9-12 months, meaning he will likely need to spend the majority of the 2022 season rehabbing the injury.

The three-time Pro Bowler is set to become a free agent for the second time in his career next month but has indicated he prefers to stay with the Rams. Beckham recently said he is willing to sacrifice salary to stay in L.A.
