The Los Angeles Rams have not been shy about making some major changes to their roster for the 2018 NFL season. Now it seems they are prepared to potentially make another one.
The Miami Dolphins parted ways with a number of their star players this offseason including defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. According to Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports, he is scheduled to meet with the Rams during his free agency trip around the league:
Update: Ndamukong Suh tells me he is planning to visit the Rams. Another rising contender officially in the mix.
The Rams made a splash by acquiring two All-Pro cornerbacks in Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib. As soon as Talib heard about Suh’s release, he got an early start on the recruiting process for the former All-Pro’s services. That said, it seems he is actually going to get his wish.
Los Angeles already boasts perhaps the best secondary in the league. The prospect of pairing a player like Suh with the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in defensive tackle Aaron Donald up front would be a nightmare for opposing offenses. However, the Rams must first worry about leaving enough room to sign Donald to his lucrative contract this offseason. This means that Los Angeles may have to convince Suh to take a bit of a pay cut to what he has become accustomed to as the former highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.
Although he is coming off one of his worst years statistically, Suh has garnered plenty of interest on the open market. That said, the Rams face some stiff competition with the five-time Pro Bowler already having met with the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans. However, if Los Angeles can somehow manage to pull this off, there is no doubt they will be projected as the best defensive unit going into next season.
