The sports world has launched a country-wide campaign to raise money for the people of Houston after the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey over the weekend. Led by Houston Rockets defensive end J.J. Watt, millions of dollars have been donated to those affected by this disaster with more on the way.
Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle and Houston native Michael Brockers recently took to Twitter to announce he is leading the team’s efforts to raise money for those in need.

Brockers is among several Texas natives that are currently on the Rams roster including rookie receiver Josh Reynolds, running back Malcolm Brown, Safety Cody Davis, and running back Aaron Green. Although none are from Houston like Brockers, friends and family they knew there had to be taken to shelter.
This is not the first time the NFL has helped a city through a disaster like this. Following the aftermath of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, the resurgence led by the New Orleans Saints helped bring back a pulse to their city.
Disasters like these provide a stark reminder that no matter which team a fan roots for, everyone in this country plays for the United States of America. The overwhelming support for the city of Houston in the wake of this disaster just proves that.
