The Los Angeles Rams managed to add some serious firepower to their roster this offseason. However, their spending spree has forced them to rely heavily on the incoming group of young linebackers.
Fortunately, former Virginia linebacker Micah Kiser is up to the task. According to Cameron DaSilva of the Rams Wire, he feels he is ready to take his game to a whole new level:
“You know the roster, but everyone at this level is a pro, so you have to come in and work,” Kiser said. “Anyone can play. Anyone that gets picked in this draft or is a veteran, is a great football player. So, I’m just ready to come in and put my best foot forward and be as productive as I can. I feel like I’ve done a lot at the college level and it’s only going to get better.”
Although the Rams boast one of the most star-studded rosters in the league, they still have a number of areas they need to address on defense. Among the positions with the most glaring void is at linebacker. Fortunately, Kiser is one of many players Los Angeles brought in to help fill it. The fact that he is confident about stepping up his game certainly spells good news for the Rams.
Kiser was arguably one of the best run-stopping linebackers in the nation. He racked up 145 tackles last season to lead the ACC for the third year in a row. Needless to say, his skill set could be of immediate use for L0s Angeles.
The Rams ranked 30th in yards per carry allowed during the 2017 campaign. If teams were disciplined enough, they could have easily pounded the rock against their middling run defense all game. Fortunately, they have seemingly addressed this issue by not only bringing in a slew of linebackers but fortifying the unit up front as well.
