The Los Angeles Rams roster will be almost unrecognizable during the 2023 season as the team has decided to part ways with several members from the 2022 squad.
The defense in particular is facing a total makeover after the Rams made some tough decisions on their veterans and free agents. However, the offense will have some key figures returning including Matthew Stafford, who is expected to be 100 percent healthy for OTAs and training camp.
Stafford saw his 2022 campaign cut short due to concussions and a neck injury, injuries that even sparked some rumors that he would retire altogether. However, that was far from the case as Stafford publicly said he’d return for 2023 and is doing what he can to make himself available.
Off the football field, it looks like Stafford and his family are getting more comfortable in Los Angeles as the quarterback announced they have joined the Angel City FC investor group, via his Instagram account:
Julie Uhrman, co-founder and president of ACFC, gave a statement regarding the Staffords’ move, via Christian Gonzalez of NFL.com:
“We are thrilled to have Matthew, Kelly , and their four daughters join the Angel City investor group,” Uhrman said. “It makes a huge statement that an LA sports icon and Super Bowl champion Rams quarterback and his family believe in what we are building at Angel City. Kelly is a huge champion of women and, from the moment they attended our Mother’s Day match last year, they have been such great supporters of the club. I’m beyond excited to officially have them join our family.”
Stafford is the latest athlete to invest in the soccer team, joining Ryan Kalil, Candace Parker and Serena Williams. It’s an exciting move not just for Stafford but for women’s sports as a whole. Growing the game and building recognition are worthwhile endeavors and everyone knows how much sports are beloved in Los Angeles.

Following such a disappointing showing in 2022, Sean McVay and the Rams will have a lot to prove in 2023 despite all the obstacles ahead. Although the defense will in all likelihood take a step back, the offense should bounce back after so many injuries.
Stafford will need to return to his 2021 levels if he hopes to lift the offense, and Les Snead seemed confident in that as he called the signal caller one of L.A.’s pillars.
