The Los Angeles Rams have been one of the surprise teams in the NFL so far. Even without star receiver Cooper Kupp, the Rams offense has gotten big contributions from young players such as Puka Nacua, Kyren Williams and Tutu Atwell with veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford leading the way.

But after missing the first four weeks with that hamstring issue, Kupp is now eligible to return and is back on the Rams practice field and Stafford is happy to see him back where he belongs.

“Good. It was awesome,” Stafford said after Kupp’s first practice back. “I was happy for him first and foremost. The amount of work that he’s put in to getting back to being out on the practice field. So just happy for him that he was out there moving around and looking good.”

The Rams quarterback continued on about Kupp, believing the receiver looked like his normal self for the most part. “Yeah, I thought he looked pretty good. Had a couple throws to him, made some nice catches, did what he normally does and was happy for him.”

Even though he is back at practice, it is unclear whether Kupp will be ready to go in time for the Rams’ contest against the Philadelphia Eagles. If he is, the Rams will suddenly have an explosive receiver duo between Kupp and Nacua and Stafford believes the two will work well together.

“Yeah, as many good players as you can get on the field is the goal,” the Rams quarterback added. We have a ton of good receivers at this point so it’s a lot of fun. It’s a great thing to try to mix and match and try to find combinations of guys on the field and things that we can do to help those guys play to their strengths.

“That’s part of what the week is all about, go out there and try to execute it on Sunday against obviously a really talented Eagles team.”

Taking down the undefeated Eagles will be a tall task as the Philadelphia is one of the best teams in the league. But they have not been a dominant force so far this season and if the Rams are clicking, they have a real chance at taking them down. The potential return of Kupp gives Stafford another weapon, his top weapon at that, and it will be on him and head coach Sean McVay to bring all of these pieces together.
