Rams News: Matthew Stafford Admits Thumb Still Isn’t 100 Percent Healthy

The Los Angeles Rams always seem to get the best of the Seattle Seahawks and that trend happened again when they came from behind and beat them 17-16 in Week 11.

The Rams did not look sharp in the first half as they went down 13-0 before they scored their first touchdown of the afternoon. However, the second half was a different story as the defense was able to hold down the fort long enough for the offense to put together multiple scoring drives.

Week 11 marked the return of Matthew Stafford, who sat out in Week 9 with a sprained UCL in his thumb. Stafford understandably looked a little rusty, but he still was able to push the ball downfield on certain plays.

Stafford later admitted he’s still managing the injury but he’s going to continue doing his best to get as healthy as possible.

“I’m not 100%, but I’m good enough to go out there and make some plays,” Stafford said. “I definitely want some back, but there’s some that I missed today that have nothing to do with that. So, I just got to go out there and continue to rehab it, get it better, and continue to try to put the ball in good spots for guys to go make plays.”

Stafford got crushed on a play that ended in an interception but was proud that he and the rest of the team were able to respond the right way. “I don’t know. I mean, it pissed me off. So I don’t know if I need to take that level of a shot every week to get going.

“But no I definitely, God, there’s so many plays I want back that I know I can make. I’m obviously doing everything I can to try and make those plays. Hopefully my thumb will continue to get better and better and better be able to take that stuff off of it and be able to go play. But just proud of our team, man. This is such a team win. ‘DK’ (Rams DB Derion Kendrick) with a huge pick, field goal to win it. It was a total team effort.”

It was good to see Stafford on the field after he missed a game, but the team still needs to be careful with the veteran as he’s taken some big hits this season. However, he’ll happily take the win and hopefully the Rams can keep the momentum going against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 12.
