Rams News: Matt LaFleur Will Meet With Tennessee Titans About Head Coaching Vacancy

The Los Angeles Rams enjoyed quite the turnaround in the 2017 NFL season. Unfortunately, one of the issues with having the league’s highest-scoring offense is that it comes with plenty of attention from other teams looking to improve.

As a result, players and coaches can often be poached from their perspective teams. The most recent example being quarterbacks coach Greg Olsen to the Oakland Raiders. Now Rams offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur has drawn interest from the Tennessee Titans about their current head coaching vacancy. According to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times, LaFleur is expected to meet with the Titans in the near future:

Rams offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur will interview with the Tennessee Titans for their head coach position, a person with knowledge of the situation said Monday

Although LaFleur was initially supposed to interview with the Titans on Thursday, it seems the snow has pushed their meeting back a day, according to Albert Breer of the MMQB:

Vicious dusting of snow in Nashville wreaking havoc on Titans’ coach interview schedule. Per sources, Texans DC Mike Vrabel now sitting down with the team on Thursday, Rams OC Matt LaFleur going in on Friday.

The Titans had enjoyed a stellar year up until their dismantling at the hands of the New England Patriots in the AFC Divisional Round. Despite initial reports that former head coach Mike Mularkey would remain in Tennessee, they ultimately decided to part ways.

Needless to say, the work LaFleur has done with quarterback Jared Goff makes him a prime candidate for the Titans. It is well-known that Tennessee is looking to bring in some stability to help with quarterback Marcus Mariota’s development.
