With the Los Angeles Rams suddenly one of the league’s most high-powered offenses, it is hard not to compare their turnaround to the ‘Greatest Show On Turf’. Led by Hall of Famers Marshall Faulk and Kurt Warner, this group was arguably the most prolific offense in NFL history.
However, things were not exactly set in stone prior to their incredible tenure in the early 2000’s. Upon his arrival after being traded from the Indianapolis Colts, Faulk says he immediately regretted going to the Rams on Good Morning Football:
“I remember walking into that locker room and I was like, ‘I left Peyton Manning for you guys?’” Faulk said. “You could see what Peyton Manning was going to be like, and I’m like, ‘Finally, I have a quarterback I can grow with and now I get traded? Trent Green? Kurt Warner? Are you kidding me?’”
Fortunately, things worked out quite nicely for both Faulk and the Rams. Not only were they able to bring the franchise’s only Super Bowl win, but Faulk managed to establish himself as perhaps the most versatile back in NFL history.
There are plenty of comparisons to be made to this 2017 Rams team and their sudden reversal of fortunes. While it is still early to make such bold predictions, Los Angeles is certainly well on their way.
