Rams News: Marcus Peters Says Trade & Replacing Him With Jalen Ramsey Was ‘Disrespectful’

The Baltimore Ravens were revealed as the 17th opponent for the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021 NFL season under the new collective bargaining agreement. While they are surely looking to settle the score from previous matchups, it appears cornerback Marcus Peters still has yet to let go of his grudge.

The Rams made headlines when they formed a talented cornerback tandem in Peters and Aqib Talib leading up to the 2018 campaign. The pair played an integral role in leading the team to Super Bowl LIII until the front office decided to part ways with both of them midway through the 2019 season.

Peters was traded to the Ravens for linebacker Kenny Young and a 2020 fifth-round pick as part of the team’s efforts to acquire cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Although he initially said there were no hard feelings for his former team, it became evident during their lopsided victory on Monday Night Football later that season that this was hardly the case.

Peters wasted no time in pointing out L.A.’s elimination from the playoffs and even got into a verbal spat with Ramsey after the game. He recently revealed during an appearance on “Catchin’ Fades with Aqib Talib,” that he felt disrespected by the way the Rams did business:

“F— them,” Peters said in a clip released Tuesday. “I felt disrespected. In the sense of, yeah, you can trade me. That’s part of the business. But two minutes after that, you bring in another guy who do the same s— I do, maybe a little bit different. If we want to play this compare game, I do a little bit more. That s— was disrespectful to me.”

It is evident that there is certainly no love lost for Peters and his former team. Despite initially regarding the move as just business, the Rams’ decision to seek out an upgrade soon thereafter clearly did not sit tight with him.

After all, the Rams paid a heavy price in order to make the trade come to fruition after parting ways with two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder. Even though Peters was able to get some payback with the win, there is no sense of buyer’s remorse in L.A. since Ramsey remains as one of the NFL’s premier shutdown corners.

While it remains to be seen when exactly Baltimore will play host during the 2021 campaign, it is safe to say that Peters is already looking forward to it.
