Rams News: Los Angeles Trades Tavon Austin To Cowboys

With the 2018 NFL Draft finally here, the Los Angeles Rams can continue to add to what is arguably the league’s most talented roster on paper. The Rams were the busiest team in the offseason as they executed trades for Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib and Brandin Cooks while also managing to sign Ndamukong Suh in free agency.

With all the talent on both sides of the ball, Los Angeles has positioned itself as one of the NFL’s Super Bowl contenders for the 2018 NFL season. However, the Rams still have several holes to fill, mostly at linebacker. After trading away several valuable picks in recent years, the Rams will need to replenish its cupboard of assets if they hope to add more talent and depth.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, it appears Los Angeles has added an extra 2018 sixth-round pick by agreeing to trade Tavon Austin to the Dallas Cowboys:

While this is a subtle shock, it is not entirely unexpected as Los Angeles was looking to unload Austin during the offseason due to his contract and uncertain role in Sean McVay’s offense. The receiver was expected to compete for a wide receiver spot in camp, but it now appears he will get his shot with a Cowboys team that just recently parted ways with Dez Bryant.

While the Rams missed out on picking a player on the first day of the draft, they have spent their last few picks replenishing their offensive line depth and adding players to their defensive front. Now armed with seven sixth-round picks, it will be interesting to see who else they select as the 2018 NFL Draft continues.
