After weeks of suspense for football fans, the Los Angeles Rams have officially selected quarterback Jared Goff out of California. Despite the Rams front office remaining quiet on their pick leading up to the draft, most experts assumed it was Goff they were after all along since making the jump from the No. 15 spot earlier this month.

The Rams officially welcomed their highly-coveted pick on Twitter shortly after he was selected:

Goff enjoyed a tremendous year from a statistical standpoint, throwing for 4,714 yards and 43 touchdowns at an efficient 64 percent. A true pocket quarterback, Goff is a precision passer with tremendous footwork in and out of the pocket. He is also the first Cal quarterback taken in the first round since Green Bay Packers gunslinger Aaron Rodgers, who congratulated his fellow alumnus after the pick was announced:

The one knock on Goff was his (14-23) overall record as a starter during his time at Cal, making it the worst by any quarterback with the first overall pick in the common draft era. However, he was not necessarily surrounded by the best talent in a powerhouse Pac-12 conference.

Goff now joins a team loaded with young talent such as Todd Gurley (Offensive Rookie of the Year) and Aaron Donald (First-Team All Pro).
