The Los Angeles Rams selected Cal quarterback Jared Goff with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft.

Goff played three years at Cal and started every game while he was there. In 2015 he threw for a career-high 4,714 yards, completing 64.5 percent of his passes, while throwing 43 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He led the Bears to an 8-5 record, including a 55-36 win over Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl in which he threw for 467 yards and six touchdowns.

In 37 career games he threw for 12,195 yards, 96 touchdowns and 30 interceptions completing 62.3 percent of his passes.

The Rams recently acquired the pick from the Tennessee Titans. In exchange for the No. 1 pick, a fourth and sixth round pick in 2016, the Rams are giving Titans their first-round pick (No. 15 overall), both second-round picks and their third-round pick from the 2016 NFL Draft as well as their first-round and third-round pick from the 2017 NFL Draft.

Goff will be a big marketing piece for the Rams, who are moving west from St. Louis to Los Angeles where they last played in 1994.

The Rams finished 7-9 in 2015 as they received below average quarterback play from both Nick Foles and Case Keenum. That being said, Keenum recently signed the restricted free agent tender and the Rams seem to think highly of him so Goff will have to beat him out in training camp to be the starter once the season begins.

The last Rams quarterback to be selected No. 1 overall was Sam Bradford in 2010.

North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz was also considered by the Rams for the top overall pick, but with the Rams selecting Goff he went second to the Philadelphia Eagles, the team that currently has Bradford on their roster.
