This time last year, the Los Angeles Rams had undoubtedly the best defensive line in football. Unfortunately, things have changed quite a bit with the season-ending injury to defensive tackle Dominique Easley and Aaron Donald’s holdout from training camp.
With the 2017 NFL season rapidly approaching, the Rams took the initiative of adding more depth to their defensive front. Los Angeles announced that they have re-signed defensive tackle Tyrunn Walker, according to Rams Insider Myles Simmons:
“A few days before taking on the Chargers, the Rams have signed defensive tackle Tyrunn Walker.”
The Rams originally signed Walker following the 2016 NFL season. However, he was promptly released once the team found out he was under investigation for an alleged sexual assault. He has since been cleared of all wrongdoing.
The undrafted free agent out of the University of Tulsa spent three seasons with the New Orleans Saints before a brief stint with the Detroit Lions. Walker has recorded 63 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and one forced fumble since entering the league in 2012.
While his numbers are nothing to brag about, Walker brings some much-needed depth to the Rams thinning defensive line. The six-year veteran started 12 games during his 19-game tenure with the Lions, including last year’s 31-28 victory over Los Angeles in Week 6.
