Rams News: Los Angeles Leads NFL In Scoring Through Week 3

This time last year, the Los Angeles Rams finally played a game where they managed to reach the end zone. Fast forward to the 2017 NFL season, and the Rams are now the highest-scoring team in the league through Week 3

Los Angeles is the only team in the NFL to put up over 100 points so far this season. Their 35.7 points per game average put them ahead of established offensive juggernauts like the New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, and Kansas City Chiefs. Although the offense has improved markedly compared to last season, McVay said he would like to see more consistency moving forward during the Rams press conference:

“You’d like to be able to sustain some continuity. This week, a little bit different than the previous week, that was the result of us not being productive offensively,” McVay said. “Some of the spots I put us in during the Washington game still bother me.”

It is no secret that Los Angeles brought in a bevy of talent with the offseason additions of left tackle Andrew Whitworth, along with wide receivers Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods. However, the Rams reversal in fortunes is undoubtedly a result of McVay’s new offensive scheme.

While it may be difficult for Los Angeles to maintain their status as the top scoring offense in the league for the entire 2017 NFL season, getting them to be more consistent may lead to more wins. The Rams currently sit atop the NFC West at 2-1.
